Head Plumbing Diagram

With non-stop rain here in eastern North Carolina, I've had plenty of time to sketch out a proposed plumbing diagram for the head.

Questions, comments, or concerns are welcome.

  1. Robert - Are three "Y" valves in a head plumbing system unusual? I am open to suggestions.

This is much more simple than the Lavac Head system we had in C'est la Vie. That system utilized one manual pump to flush the toilet, pump out the holding tank, and empty the shower pan. If I recall correctly it had 5 "Y" valves.

  2. Eolian's head setup has just one at each head, which selects between overboard and holding tank. But we have a separate thru hull for the holding tank pump discharge - I think the wye valve here is a better arrangement. Eliminating holes in the hull is always a good thing!

However in your diagram, I believe that the wye valve at the holding tank is unnecessary and could be replaced with a sanitary tee.

  3. Robert, I have received the same advice about replacing the "Y" valve downstream of holding tank with a simple "T" from several sources. I guess there is no issue with the pump out pulling a vacuum against the macerator. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
